The Ballybofey woman overcame Sally Carrig to seal the fourth crown in style, following a 10-8 points win at the National Stadium.

Auciute’s star continues to rise, the latest prospect to emerge from the Finn Valley club continuing her excellent recent form. In April of last year, she won a bronze medal at the first Women’s World Youth and Junior Championships in Turkey and is the current Ulster 9 Counties Champion at her grade.

On Friday night, she headed for the South Circular Road with three Irish titles already to her name – and she didn’t disappoint in her quest for a fourth. Auciute turned in a disciplined display to outgun Ennis woman Sally Carrig 10-8 in the Girl 5 63kgs decider.

Last week, Auciute had emerged from a tense semi-final with a highly-rated Athlone woman Cheyanne O’Neill. The boxers had been tied 13-13 with Auciute recording a 37-36 win on a countback.

Auciute was one of two Donegal boxers crowned as Irish champions on Friday night in the finals of the National Girls Championships.

Ballyshannon fighter Jane Carty took home the Girl 5 70kgs title thanks to a comprehensive 22-12 win over Clonmel’s Kayleigh O’Donnell. Her path to the final was sealed seven days earlier following an 11-9 win over Saoirse Delargy of Ballinrobe.

The wins for Auciute and Carty bring to three the number of Donegal winners at the National Girls finals after Labhaoise Clarke (Carndonagh) took the Girl 2 50kgs final win last weekend thanks to a 12-10 win over Killmallock’s Jodie O’Gorman.
