FOUR under 14 St Eunan’s GAA Club teams have qualified for the International Feile competitions in June.
The Letterkenny club have made history by qualifying for the Camogie, Girls Football, Hurling and Boys football inter county Feile competitions, all in one year. This has never been achieved by any other GAA club in the world.

All these young players are progressing through the football, hurling and camogie coaching academies and structures where qualified coaches maintain a quality coaching and games programme.

The girls and boys football competition is being hosted in South Leinster on the last week of June. The 2015 National Feile Peil na nOg has 250 teams, with over 6500 players taking part, will see teams from all over Ireland competing against the best of GAA teams from Scotland, England and America.

The Camogie and Hurling Feile is being hosted by a number of Ulster clubs including St Eunan’s from 19th to 21st June. With visiting players, teams, coaches and families this promises to be a bumper weekend for Letterkenny and the surrounding area. Over 100 teams are expected from the 32 counties of Ireland as well as several from the UK and USA.

Club PRO Gareth McGlynn said it was such a great experience for these young people to represent their county.
“For all 4four places to go to St Eunan’s is something we will be celebrating for a long time,” he said.
Hurling Board Chairman, Paddy Flood said it was brilliant to see the huge increase in young members playing in both gaa games; hurling and football for the boys, camogie and football for the girls.

“There are seven dual players who will create a piece of history by competing in Feile Peil and Feile Na Gael in one year,” he said.

The history makers are Shane O’Donnell, Oisin Randles, Peter Magee, Ronan Daly, Catherine Kelly, Laura Kealy and Niamh Harkin.

A co-ordinated fund-raising effort is now underway to support the participation of the 4 Feile teams in what will be a special sporting and social occasion in summer 2015.

There are several events planned over the coming months to celebrate this unique achievement. They include a Table Quiz on Saturday at 9pm in the Clubhouse, teams of 4, €20, all are welcome.

Other activities will be promoted in the coming weeks through the St Eunan’s Facebook page, through the press and team members.
