Four Masters flying the hurling flag for south west

FOUR Masters joint-captain Shane McNulty was near speechless at full time as his side got over the line to win the Junior Hurling Championship.

McNulty and his side fought hard and were well in control of the game and while a late St Eunan’s goal put a bit of pressure on, the team held firm and came away with the win.

“It feels excellent,” McNulty said post match.

“It was a really hard fought match but all the hard work paid off, Peter (McFarlane) put us through it all year and I’m just speechless.

“We knew they would come at us in the second half and it would be backs against the wall but we just tried to close the door and we managed to hold out until the end, it was never going to be a big difference and the last time we played them there was only one or two points in it and we knew today would be the exact same but the run of the ball went for us and we’re delighted.

“Our back line, they put their body on the line and that’s what it’s all about, you’re playing in a squad of 25 and you have to put your body where you wouldn’t put your foot and that’s how you keep the goals out.”
