The announcement made on social media explained that the decision to close was driven by the restructuring of the business.

The statement continued by thanking the local community for their support throughout the years.

“We would like to thank all of our loyal customers who have been an absolute pleasure to serve and so many of whom have become great friends to us.”

The restaurant also thanked their staff for their dedication.

“We have been so lucky to have had amazing staff right from the beginning and our current crew who we appreciate and who we wish all the best for the future, especially Paul Delaney who has been with us for 27 years.”

While Donegal Town will no longer have a branch, the restaurant’s other locations in Letterkenny, Buncrana, and Sligo will continue to operate.

“Thank you to Donegal Town for 33 wonderful years,” the statement concluded.
