Four Donegal players have been named in the Republic of Ireland Schoolboys squad for the upcoming SAFIB Centenary Shield.
St Columba’s College students Declan Patton, Peter Sweeney and Eamonn MacBride have been named in the panel alongside Loreto Milford’s Rowan McGroarty.
All four players were part of the Finn Harps Under-17 team that secured the National League of Ireland Academy Shield last November, beating Drogheda United 3-0 in the decider.
Sweeney, Patton and MacBride are all in the same year at school and helped to secure the Ulster Schools title for St Columba’s College last week.
In this competition, the Republic of Ireland will face Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland.
They’ll commence their campaign next Thursday, with a trip to Llandudno to play the Welsh men before future encounters against Scotland and Northern Ireland, both in Athlone.
