He has served the Raphoe Diocese since 2017. Much loved and respected, Bishop McGuckian was a shining light for parishioners throughout Donegal during the series of lockdowns due to the Covid-19 pandemic, holding rosary services online.

Hundreds of well-wishers from Donegal’s 33 parishes and beyond attended a mass of thanksgiving for Bishop McGuckian in St Eunan’s Cathedral just a few weeks ago.

Bishop McGuckian will officially take up his new role tomorrow.

Meanwhile the formal ceremony to install him as the new Bishop of Down and Connor will take place on Sunday, April 14.
