Foot searches continue for missing Derry pensioner

A second day of a volunteer foot search for missing Derry man, John Concannon got underway today.

Seventy-one-year-old Mr Concannon has been missing since Tuesday, November 11. He was last seen on the Lenamore Road area of Derry  getting off a bus. It is believed Mr Concannon took the wrong bus from Derry City centre.

Since his disappearance, a large-scale cross border operation has been underway to locate the  elderly man, who, it is understood, suffers from dementia.

It’s estimated that up to 100 people took part in today’s search.

Both Gardai in Donegal and the PSNI in Derry, along with assistance from an underwater search team and volunteers, have already carried out extensive searches on both sides of the border. Farmers have also been  encouraged to check their out houses in case the missing pensioner may have taken refuge there.

However, so far, there have been no sightings of Mr Concannon.

Police have once again asked anyone who has seen Mr Concannon to get in touch with them at Strand Road Police Station, or call

Mr Concannon is desribed as being five foot, six inches tall, of medium build and with grey hair. He was wearing a black and grey beanie hat, a black coat, checked shirt and navy trousers when he was last seen.
