Dundalk 1-2 Finn Harps
Adam Foley netted a brace as Finn Harps recorded a terrific victory over Dundalk at Oriel Park this evening.
Harps played very well in the first half and pressed their opponents from the off.
Adam Foley missed a great chance to score, but the big striker did find the net in the 43rd minute when he blocked Dundalk goalkeeper Alessio Abibi’s clearance and the ball found the net.
Ollie Horgan’s men led 1-0 at the break but Dundalk were level by the 48th minute when Pat Hoban headed home from Michael Duffy’s free-kick.
Mark Anthony McGinley made a stunning save from Hoban before Harps regained the lead in the 64th minute when Mark Russell found Foley, who smashed the ball to the net.
Hoban hit the post for Dundalk, who were 1/11 to win in some bookmakers before the match, but they couldn’t find a leveller and Harps held on for a famous triumph.
Horgan’s men were delighted with the win and they take on Drogheda United next Saturday.
