THE Red Cross will administer a flood relief scheme to help small businesses affected by flooding across the county.
The emergency scheme is aimed at getting businesses back up and running. Announcing the initiative Minister Joe McHugh TD said he was “delighted” with the Government’s decision.
“The scheme is a humanitarian support contribution towards the costs of returning business premises to their pre-flood condition including the replacement of flooring, fixtures and fittings and damaged stock,” said Minister McHugh.
“Having witnessed first hand the damage caused to businesses in Inishowen, it is important that we in Government respond and that is what we are doing today.”
Minister McHugh thanked the Red Cross for agreeing to administer the scheme and Minister Paul Kehoe for his role in introducing it.
Details on how to apply for the funding are expected to emerge shortly.
