Kerry 1-1 Finn Harps
Ryan Flood’s header gave Finn Harps a point away to Kerry in the First Division tonight.
Michael Harris had the first Harps chance of the game as he beat two Kerry men down the left and cut inside but fired over, while Leo Gaxha’s effort at the other end hit the side netting.
Ellis Farrar had an effort blocked and Kerry ‘keeper Wayne Guthrie did well to jump on the ball before Daniel Okwute could pounce on the loose ball.
Kerry opened the scoring on 36 minutes after a great touch from Ryan Kelliher and pass into Leo Gaxha who crossed low to Sean McGrath with the goal at his mercy from inside the six yard box.
Kerry went in at half-time leading but Harps put the pressure on in the second half as they looked for the equaliser.
And it came on 66 minutes when Filip Da Silva held the ball up well and found Caoimhin Porter down the right.
Porter’s cross bounced and the American midfielder Flood found space in between two defenders to head into the corner of the net.
There were few chances after the equaliser with the best coming from Sean Kennedy’s effort from the edge of the box but it was well saved by Tim Hiemer.
Harps pushed for a winner in added time but the points were shared at a sold out Mounthawk Park as Finn Harps move up to seventh while Kerry stay bottom, picking up their second point of the season.
