Name: Tara Martin
Age: 29
Occupation: Credit Union Teller
Team: Glenfin
If you were throwing a party and you could invite anyone in the world, dead or alive, who would you ask around? I don’t think I’d pass Garth Brooks on this one – everyone loves a good sing song to him!
Where do you like to go out to celebrate after a big victory? We always stick to the two locals Harkin’s Bar or the Reelin Bar – less rules local!
What’s the worst pitch you’ve ever played on? Not a fan of Moville always seem to get an injury.
Which character in any film are you most like? I’d probably say one of Charlie’s Angels, a team-player and never bow out of a challenge/tackle!
Any odd items in your kit bag? Nothing odd as such few prayers and holy medals.
Who’s the biggest joker in the team you play for? I’d probably go with Sinead Doherty (Bean) always gives a few one liners to giggle at.
Which team mate has the best looking other half? I’d say Yvonne or Anna Marie considering their other halves manage us. The compliment might ease the training for a night lol!
Who is the worst/best trainer? Best would be Grainne Houston – have never seen that girl miss a session. Worst would also be Grainne she loves to run. Keeping up with her is a task alone 🙂.
Who spends most time in front of the mirror in the dressing room? Any of the younger girls could take that title but just cause I see her at home too it will have to be Lauren Martin.
Who’s the best/worst person to sit beside on the team bus? Best would be Laura McKenna she always prepped for travel – music, speakers, chat anything you need! Worst judging by a trip to and from Kerry – Lauren, Katie and Danielle put together. When the giggling starts it’s not peaceful.
Who has the best and who has the worst diet on the team? Best I’d have to say Sharon Conaghan. I work with her and her prep is always spot on. I honestly couldn’t pick a worst but there’s a few with sweet tooths even before games when the wine gums come out!
Toughest opponent you have faced? Would have to be Geraldine McLaughlin
Best or worst quote you’ve heard, either from a manager, player, opponent? “If you think you can or think you can’t, you’re right!”
Best manager you’ve ever played under? Not being biased but would have to be Francie Martin – brought great belief back to the team.
Best ever performance? I’d probably go with the Gaeltacht in Downings 2018, this was for sure a memorable year.
One to forget? For me would be the Ulster semi-final 2018 against Bredagh. Even though we got the win in extra time the October weather wasn’t pretty!
Sporting ambition? To win an Ulster title with the Club.
When you were playing in the back garden, who did you pretend to be? I never could pick one I was always changing positions. One day I’d be Debbie Lee Fox, and another I would be Aoife Hegarty or Diane Toner.
If you were in charge of transfers, who’d be in and who’d be out of the team? I’d have Orla Finn in. She’s used to the red and white and has an awesome left foot but I could never transfer anyone out. Good days or bad days we always stick together!
