If you were throwing a party and you could invite anyone in the world, dead or alive, who would you ask around? The Gillette Soccer Saturday crew would have to be there, Kevin Bridges, Jimmy Bullard, Gordon Ramsay for a bit of grub, and Michelle Keegan for some eye candy.
Where do you like to go out to celebrate after a big victory?
After Vegas, it would be a pub crawl of the Rosses with maybe a trip to Arranmore the following day.
What’s the worst pitch you’ve ever played on? Letterbarrow.
Which character in any film are you most like?
I know its not a film but I think I am a bit of a Ross Gellar from Friends.
Any odd items in your kit bag?
Bar the dirty gear the odd Sunday, I wouldn’t have any superstitions or odd items.
Who’s the biggest joker in the team you play for?
Daniel Bonner brings a certain type of banter to the dressing room at the weekends.
Which team mate has the best looking other half?
Between the manager’s other half and the chairman’s wife, I couldn’t pick.
Who is the worst trainer? Luke Neely by far and if I had to pick a best trainer it would be Chris Greene.
Who spends most time in front of the mirror in the dressing room?
Packie Wanish got rid of all the mirrors because there was too many lads in front of them before the games, never mind after.
Who’s the best/worst person to sit beside on the team bus?
We usually take the cars but if I had to pick the best person it would be Chris McGlynn, as listening to his love stories always gives me a good laugh and the worst would be the brother Hugh because he generally annoys me anyway.
Who has the best and who has the worst diet on the team, and what does it include?
Well I would say I am up there with the worst as I love a good chinese. The best diet would be Martin Redmond as he is a bit of a health freak but he still wouldn’t win in a fight.
Toughest opponent you have faced?
Probably the hardest question of the lot. Odhran McNiallais was a hard man to handle when we used to play Gweedore Celtic or Kevin McFadden of Glenea United.
Best or worst quote you’ve heard, either from a manager, player, opponent?
I was away at a school game once and the coach/teacher started a speech and it was the “inches” speech by Al Pacino. Let’s just say we had some laugh when went out to the pitch.
Best manager you’ve ever played under?
Ben Boyle and Danny Doogan are hard to beat as the best.
Best ever performance?
Few years back, we played in an ESPN classic at Finn Valley. If we won the game, we won the league; if we drew, we would came second; and a loss meant we wouldn’t go up automatically. With the last play of the game, it was three each, and I had scored two goals myself. There was a corner for the opposition, but the ball was cleared from the box and I found myself alone on the half-way line. However, their ‘keeper came out and cleaned me, and Cory (Galagher) ran past and scored and took all the glory.
One to forget? We lost the All Ireland Under 12 Community Games final, which was very gutting at the time.
Sporting ambition? Well in my younger days it was obviously to play professionally but now it’s to win this year’s league and promotion with Keadue and be happy playing the beautiful game.
When you were playing in the back garden, who did you pretend to be?
This is a tough one. Being a Liverpool supporter it would have to be Steven Gerrard and Robbie Fowler but the local men would have been Owenie McGarvey (for his soccer skills not the GAA) and James ‘Monty’ Boyle.
If you were in charge of transfers, who’d be in and who’d be out of the team?
Adrian Hanlon is out for his sheer greediness even though he has already moved away. Players in would be lads that we have lost in the last couple of years like Mark Forker and my brother Paul the Yank, who have left their childhood club to play for the big town boys, Letterkenny Rovers.
