Five hurt after car overturned at bridge

FIVE occupants of a car had to be treated in hospital after their car overturned on impact with a bridge on the outskirts of Letterkenny.

The single vehicle accident happened in the Kirkstown area at around 10.30pm on Sunday. A Garda spokesman told the Donegal News the occupants were all foreign nationals and there injuries were not serious.

The silver coloured Toyota Prius car struck the bridge close to a local forest leading to the Glencar area. Two fire tenders, three ambulances and gardai attended the scene.

“There was a fair bit of activity around the scene of the collision for a while after the accident,” one local told the Donegal News.

“The road was blocked off the traffic as the injured were ferried to hospital for treatment,” he added.
