FIVE Donegal companies will share almost €500,000 as part of a package announced this morning under the Department of Agriculture and the Marine’s European Maritime and Fisheries Fund Programme.
Minister Charlie McConalogue has just confirmed an overall package of €1.8 million in grants to 28 aquaculture companies to further the growth of their businesses and our aquaculture sector.
Among those set to benefit in Donegal are Donegal Aquaculture Services Ltd (€290,000); Mulroy Bay Mussels Ltd (€1,000); Irish Oysters Harvest Ltd (€100,200); Natura Mussels Ltd (€32,197) and Saddle Rock Fisheries (€58,730).
Charlie McConalogue said in Donegal these companies are creating “investment in the local community and creating employment”.
He added, “In recent years my Department invested in eliminating the licensing backlog for shellfish aquaculture producers and this is I believe being reflected in the large number of grant applications being submitted by shellfish aquaculture producers, showing renewed confidence in their capacity to expand with regulatory certainty.”
