The GAA announced on Wednesday that Harvey Norman is to become their new official Statistics Sponsor in an agreement that will run for a three-year term from 2024 to 2026.
What exactly their remit is in a world where GAA sides yearn for privacy remains to be seen but it would be most welcome if more detailed analysis was forthcoming.
Perhaps this is a key step towards a GAA version of Opta Stats but for the moment, we will have to be content with an assessment from the humble naked eye.
Using that underrated implement, what the early weeks of the 2024 intercounty season have told us is that the Donegal footballers are in excellent physical condition.
With a warm-weather camp in Tenerife under the belts, it wouldn’t be ridiculous to suggest that Jim McGuinness’s side have more possibly training done than any other county in Ireland.
