First defeat for Donegal as Galway prove too strong

Galway 0-21 Donegal 0-14

Donegal suffered their first defeat of the the NFL Division 1 campaign as they were beaten by Galway at a blustery Pearse Stadium today.

Donegal played against a strong breeze in the first half and Galway raced ahead as they scored seven two-pointers.

Conor O’Donnell finally got the visitors off the mark in the 30th minute and Galway then had Matthew Tierney sent off late in the half.

HT: Galway 0-17 Donegal 0-1

Daire Ó Baoill hit two-pointers after the restart but Donegal weren’t able to eat into the deficit as they would have liked in the third quarter.

They did managed to get back to within seven points but never looked like getting the result.

Donegal are back in action next Sunday when they face Derry in Ballyshannon next Sunday.
