Race director Niall Clancy of Mullaghmore Tri Club said ‘we wanted to organise a triathlon in the Ballyshannon area for some time now and the Lakeside Centre offers the perfect facility to do it. The route, while challenging will suit both seasoned triathletes as well as those competing for the first time and we would encourage anybody who has been training for their first triathlon to give this one a go as the course is particularly suitable for first timers as it is a flat route’.

CEO at Erne Enterprise Development Company Eimear Keon said ‘we are thrilled to be able to facilitate the inaugural Lakeside Triathlon here at the Lakeside Centre. The popularity of triathlons is increasing year by year and we hope that by holding an event like this in Ballyshannon it will put the town on the map for triathlons and athletes as well as giving the town a boost as the summer season comes to a close’

Entry for the inaugural Lakeside Triathlon is just €30 and can be made via www.triathlonireland.com. Full details of the course are available on www.msctri.com.
