Fire at house under construction may have been malicious – gardaí

GARDAÍ say they have not ruled out that a fire at a house under construction in Dunfanaghy was started deliberately.

Gardaí were alerted to a fire in progress at the vacant house in the area of Kill on Wednesday, June 18, just shortly before 10pm.

Gardaí attended the scene and managed to extinguish the fire. The fire services also attended the scene and ensured that the building was safe.

A garda spokesperson said: “It has not been ruled out that the fire may have been started maliciously and we are anxious to speak with anyone who may have travelled in that area (along the N56 in particular) with a dash-cam between 9pm and 10pm on that date. If anybody can assist with relevant information, we ask them to contact Ballyshannon Garda Station on (071) 9858530. The Garda Confidential Line may be contacted on 1800 666 111.”
