With a promising weather forecast for the weekend, the Finn Wheelers Cycling Club is eagerly preparing to host their Three Counties Sportive this Sunday.
This highly anticipated event will offer cyclists the chance to experience the stunning landscapes of Donegal, Fermanagh, and Tyrone on a challenging 135 km route.
For those seeking a more leisurely ride, a shorter 62 km circuit covering Donegal and Tyrone is also available. Both routes are still open for entries, and participants are encouraged to register online in advance.
This year’s sportive marks the club’s first event since 2018 and comes as the club celebrates its 10th anniversary.
Cyclists from clubs across the North-West and beyond are expected to travel to the Twin Towns for this Cycling Ireland affiliated event.
The ride will kick off at 9:30 am sharp from Finn Valley College, Drumboe, Stranorlar (F93 AE27), with registration available between 8:30 and 9:15 am.
Refreshments and hot showers will be provided at the college after the event, and the club extends its gratitude to Principal Séan McFadden for his support.
In addition to the scenic ride, participants can avail themselves of pre-ride bike mechanic checks, supplies, and on-the-spot services provided by John Grant of The Bike Mobile.
Club Chairperson, Brian McElhinney, has asked motorists to be mindful of the large number of cyclists passing through the Twin Towns from 9:30 am, particularly on routes with limited hard shoulder space.
