Waterford 7-1 Finn Harps
Finn Harps were outclassed by a Waterford side who began the Keith Long era in style in the RSC.
Three first half goals from Roland Idowu, an Ellis Farrar own goal and a volley from former Harps man Killian Cantwell ensured the three points would be staying in Waterford.
Despite an even first half an hour of the game, once Waterford got in front through a brilliant Roland Idowu goal from outside the box, they began to dominate.
Dave Rogers would have hoped to get to the break just a goal down but two quickfire set-pieces had the hosts 3-0 up at half-time.
Waterford dominated the second half and an unfortunate error from goalkeeper Tim Hiemer gave Ronan Coughlan an easy tap in, while Idowu scored another from outside the box with the help of a deflection.
Substitute Connor Parsons made it six after two rebounds fell to Waterford players and Parsons got the final chance.
Giles Phillips’ header at the back post made it seven but Daniel Okwute scored a consolation goal moments later.
