Finn Harps held to a home draw with Longford Town

Finn Harps were held to a 1-1 draw with Longford Town at Finn Park tonight.

The Harps took the lead on 34 minutes as a Ryan Flood corner stopped dead in the six yard box with a host of bodies battling for possession and Filip Da Silva was there to put his laces through it and give Brady no chance.

It was a third goal of the season for Da Silva, but the celebrations wouldn’t be long lived as Longford equalised before half-time.

An Aodh Dervin corner was swung in only to be headed clear to Sam Verdon. His cross was then cleared to the edge of the box and Dervin curled a great right footed shot into the far corner, giving Hiemer no chance.

The home side had chances to win it, with Ellis Farrar heading over from close range, while Séamas Keogh should have done better from less than 10 yards out and Ryan Flood rushed his shot when 1-on-1 with time.

Harps piled on the pressure late on but had to settle for the draw, which leaves Finn Harps in sixth place in the table with 14 points after 11 games.
