FINN Harps went into the mid-season break on a high as they came from behind to beat Longford Town at Bishopsgate.
Longford Town 2 Finn Harps 3
Longford Town took the lead ten minutes from half-time as Beineon O’Brien Whitmarsh found Cristian Mageruson at the edge of the box and he drilled low into the bottom corner.
But Finn Harps hit back with two goals in three minutes in the second half as Kevin Jordan flicked on a Shane McMonagle long ball, with Sean O’Donnell racing on from the left and firing into the far corner for his first Finn Harps goal.
Three minutes later Ryan Flood stepped up to take a free-kick in front of the net but 35 yards out and he smashed the ball around the wall and into the corner, low and unstoppable.
The home side equalised with 15 minutes to go as Mageruson set up O’Brien Whitmarsh this time with a through ball and he made no mistake in placing the ball past Tim Hiemer.
But with ten minutes remaining, O’Donnell did brilliant to get past Ciaran Hodanu down the right and passed low to Damien Duffy at the edge of the six yard box, with Duffy off balance but he rifled high into the roof of the net for what is also his first goal for the club.
Noe Baba could have made it 4-2 but Longford pressed late on but couldn’t find an equaliser as the Harps move up to seventh.
