FINAL tallies have revealed that Sinn Fein have taken 45% of first preference votes in Donegal. Pearse Doherty secured 20,909 first preference votes followed by Padraig MacLochlainn on 13,804.
This is up from 27% of the share in the 2016 election.
Fianna Fail secured 21% of the votes with Charlie McConalogue on 8,322 and Pat the Cope Gallagher on 7,523. The party’s share is down ten per cent compared to the last election.
Fine Gael have 14% of first preferences with Joe McHugh on 7,613 and Martin Harley on 3,034.
Thomas Pringle received 5,459 first preference votes followed by fellow independent John O’Donnell 4,741.
