Fianna Fáil Ógra say ‘Yes’ to same sex marriage

THE Chairperson of the youth wing of Fianna Fáil in Donegal has laid out their commitment to securing a ‘YES’ vote in the up and coming referendum on Marriage Equality.

This comes as the Government announced the wording that would be added to the Constitution if a YES vote is cared.

Ian Molloy from Glenties said voters were only being asked to decide whether the following new wording should be added to the Constitution:

‘Marriage may be contracted in accordance with law by two persons without distinction as to their sex’

“In the last week a sub-committee, independent of the officer board of ógra, has met to discuss and plan for the referendum. The general consensus from the committee is that ógra would be at the fore front of the campaign to secure a YES vote both locally and nationally,” he said.

“I sincerely hope senior party politicians and perspective general election candidates for Fianna Fáil will stand shoulder to shoulder with ógra Fianna fail in actively canvasing and campaigning for a YES vote,” he added.

Mr Molloy said he had been in contact with his counterpart in YFG (Young Fine Gael) about the possibly of holding a joint event during the campaign and the feedback was very positive.
