THE Earagail Arts Festival, Donegal’s premier summer event, are seeking interest from people interested in joining the board which is a voluntary role.
The festival, which takes place this year from July 13 to 28, is inviting expressions of interest from anyone who believes they can contribute their time and skills to Donegal’s signature, bi-lingual multi-disciplinary arts festival.
It is a core and sustainable element of Ireland’s national festival infrastructure.
Operating in one of Ireland’s most economically deprived areas across 4,000 square kilometres, to a dispersed population of 140,000, its mission is to present a bi-lingual arts festival that is artistically ambitious, innovative, socially inclusive, and representative of Donegal’s distinctive and diverse character.
Earagail Arts Festival CLG (EAF) is a publicly funded, registered charity (CHY 16078) providing a public service.
Its resources come from a combination of grants, in-kind and financial sponsorship, philanthropic donations and ticket sales.
The Earagail Arts Festival Board, which meets (in person or virtually) at least four times annually, has overall responsibility for the organisation and the festival which is delivered by a team of staff and volunteers led by Paul Brown, CEO and Artistic Director.
The board’s job is to drive the strategic direction and ensure proper oversight and standards in everything the festival does.
In addition, board members are requested to participate in one sub-committee, as well as working on various governance issues and supporting festival activity.
Festival board members have an interest in the arts and in the importance of community-based arts initiatives and bring a range of skills, expertise and interest.
The role of a board member is voluntary position. As a not-for-profit organisation directors do not receive remuneration for their time and commitment to the board.
The deadline for expressions of interest is Friday, March 22 and applicants will be responded to by Monday, April 15. For detailed information visit www.eaf.ie.
