MAXI Curran’s Donegal Under 21s have been handed a home draw against Fermanagh in the 2014 Ulster U21 Championship.

The draw was made by the Ulster Competitions Controls Committee (CCC) at its meeting in Armagh on Tuesday night.

Donegal will have a home tie in Ballybofey on March 19th. Curran’s team was beaten by Cavan in this year’s Ulster final, the Breffni boys running out 0-13 to 1-6 winners in Enniskillen.

The Downings man will be able to call on a number of players from the 2013 panel. Chief among them will be the retention of Patrick McBrearty, Ryan McHugh and Martin O’Reilly, members of the Donegal senior squad this year.

Others who are still underage include Eoin McHugh, Darach O’Connor, Ciaran Cannon, William Gillespie, Conor Parke and John O’Malley, while Hugh McFadden, the Killybegs forward called up to the senior set-up lately, is another man who will be eligible for selection.

Defending champions Cavan, who completed a three-in-a-row Ulster Under 21 haul with this year’s win over Donegal, start the defence with a tricky away game against Derry with the winners taking on Tyrone.

The winners of the Donegal-Fermanagh quarter-final will meet whoever emerges from the game between Armagh and Antrim.
