You never know who will turn up to provide musical entertainment at Teach Mici Ban’s for Oiche Airneal.
ON Friday, July 12, Féile Carraig Arts & Culture will host their next fundraiser for this year’s festival, Óiche Airneál.
The always popular event will be held at Teach Mici Ban’s (aka Hugo Boyle’s) and following on from the success of the last two years this evening will offer music, dancing and lots of craic.
An ‘Oíche Airneál’ is a traditional social event that would be held in someone’s house, in years gone by, where neighbours would gather to share the craic using the talents of the guests alone.
Féile Carraig Arts & Culture aims to promote the wealth of talent within the locality and the Oíche Airneál provides them with a perfect opportunity to bring together and celebrate the abundance of wonderfully talented individuals and groups from the parish and surrounding areas.
Musicians, singers and dancers are invited to join in and perform along on the evening. This as a family friendly event with all ages welcome. Light refreshments will be served throughout the evening. The event begins at 8pm.
The third annual Féile Carraig Arts & Culture festival will take place August 23-25 and the organisers are very excited about their upcoming programme.
This year’s festival is a part of The Gathering national event, so the parish of Mevagh are encouraged to spread the word about the festival and invite someone home this summer.
Already confirmed for the weekend are a family fun day, traditional music, an open mic night, local artists exhibition, craft stalls, a 10k walk, drawing day, tea dance, workshops, arts and crafts, song-writing, dance, photography, a local history talk and food and beer tasting.
All donations are in aid of Féile Carraig Arts & Culture 2013. For more information on any of the above please call 085 136 0837 or Áine Doherty on 087 786 3929 or Facebook.
