WITH the nights getting darker and the weather colder, Féile an Fhómhair is back to bring some light and fun to the season.
Lionra Leitir Ceanainn is very happy to present its festival calendar, supported by Foras na Gaeilge.
The festival will start today, Tuesday, October 7 with a night of storytelling and song at 7.30pm in the Líonra office, 7 Castle Street, with Gearóidín Breathnach, winner of the Corn Uí Riada at the 2024 Oireachtas na Samhna.
On Saturday, October 11 there will be a Park Run at 9.30am from The Vestry, followed by a day in the Regional Cultural Centre with the animated film Amhrán na Mara at midday and a Tógáil Teidí workshop at 2pm.
This is a wonderful Irish language event for families and is expected to be busy so booking is essential 086 0136579, cost €5family.
There will be a screening of the beautiful Irish language film Fidil Ghorm which was filmed in Donegal at 3pm. Entry to the film is free and this is an event in collaboration with the Regional Cultural Centre.
On Friday, October 17 festival goers can look forward to An Seisiún Mór, a big mad trad session with Ceol na Coille. It’s taking place in the clubhouse at St Eunan’s GAA club from 6.30pm – 8pm.
It is a free event and everyone is welcome, whether coming to play or to listen.
On Sunday night there will be a Céilí in Bonagee Hall from 8pm-11pm, entry €5 and music by Martin Duggan. Don’t worry if you don’t know the dances – there will be plenty of people to help you out!
There will be workshops happening in Gaelscoil Adhamhnáin and Coláiste Ailigh during the festival as well as Conversation Circles in the Líonra office, in CoLab and for teachers in Scoil Mhuire Gan Smál and Woodlands.
