A DONEGAL man is gearing up for a demanding 24-hour challenge on Errigal Mountain this Saturday to raise crucial funds for metastatic breast cancer research, a cause close to his heart.
When Malachy Doyle’s daughter Naomi was recently diagnosed with the disease, he quickly realised it was an area that sorely lacked research and funding.
Determined to raise essential funds for ‘Charlotte’s Vision’, an Irish charity supporting metastatic breast cancer research at the National Breast Cancer Research Institute at University Hospital Galway, Malachy planned a 24-hour challenge on Errigal Mountain which is scheduled for this Saturday, July 12.
“Together with many of my friends, my aim is to climb Errigal, a 751 metre mountain in Donegal, as many times as possible between 10am Saturday and 10am Sunday,” Malachy said.
“Some will do it once, some hope to do it as many as 12 times or even more.
“My target, at the grand old age of 70, is 12 times.
“Can we do it?”
On the lead up to his challenge, Malachy is calling on the public to support his daughter and the countless others affected by metastatic breast cancer.
