Father and children die in Inishowen road tragedy

A father and his two children have died after their car skidded off the road and plunged into Lough Foyle at Quigley’s Point last night.

The tragedy occurred at Three Trees at around 10.20pm.

The victims were the male driver (49), his 14-year-old son and six-year-old daughter. A female passenger, believed to be the children’s mother, managed to get out of the vehicle and find help. She was taken to Letterkenny hospital where her injuries have been described as non-life threatening.

The family is from Moville where it is understood the 49-year-old man ran a business. His wife is a frontline hospital worker.

Gardai are appealing to anyone who was travelling from Muff towards Quigley Point between 10pm and 10.30pm last night to contact them.
