Fast starting Convoy advance to Junior ‘A’ semi final

St Mary’s, Convoy 2-11 Urris 0-7

Convoy flew out of the blocks and quickly put Urris to the sword as they comfortably won in the quarter-final of the Junior ‘A’ Championship.

Corrie-lee Bogan found the net twice inside the first three minutes and Convoy were nine points to the good after just seven minutes gone.

Urris battled hard but mustered four scores from just five attempts in the first half, while John Toye kicked six scores and Liam Toye and Gavin Sweeney got two each as the hosts led by 2-10 to 0-4 at the break.

Toye added a seventh point in the second half which was the only score after the break for them, but just three points in the final quarter from Alan Friel’s men meant there was no great danger to the result.
