Fashion giant H&M to open new Letterkenny store next month

GLOBAL fashion giant H&M has confirmed they will open their new Letterkenny store next month.

Around 20 new full and part-time jobs will be created when the store opens its doors at the Letterkenny Retail Park on Thursday, September 19.

The move was first revealed on the front page of the Donegal News back in February.

The company was granted planning permission in May to remove a party wall separating two units at the retail park – specifically, the unit vacated by Menarys in recent months and the adjoining vacant unit.

The new unit will have a total ground and first floor sales area of 1,600 square metres or 17,200 sq ft.

Speaking to this paper on Tuesday, H&M’s Country Manager for Ireland, Mr Carlos Duarte, said that Letterkenny is a “great location” for them.

“It’s with great delight that I can confirm that we will be opening a new H&M store in Letterkenny next month,” Mr Duarte said.

“We’ve been looking for opportunities to expand our portfolio in Ireland for some time and, with a current total of 13 stores in the Republic of Ireland, the new Letterkenny store is a welcome addition for us.

“As the largest town in the northwest of Ireland, the store will boast over 1,600 sq metres of retail space in a great location and customers can look forward to the H&M shopping experience of fashion and quality at the best price.”

Last year, the popular clothing chain opened a store in the Foyleside Centre in Derry, much to the delight of Donegal fashionistas who previously had to travel to stores in Belfast or Dublin.
