THE fourth annual Loinneog Lúnasa Festival is only a week away and promises to be an unforgettable weekend of ceol, culture and craic.
 
A celebration of Irish traditional music and culture that is so deeply rooted in the heritage of Donegal, especially so in Gaoth Dobhair.

Taking place from the 8th to the 11th August and attracting music enthusiasts from all the world. The line-up includes Na Casaidigh, Na Bonney Men, Clann Mhic Ruairí, The Unwanted, New Road and Emma Ní Fhíoruisce all performing in various locations throughout the parish.

Other events lined up include a special one day event dedicated to Sean-Nós Singing. Acclaimed Sean Nós Singers, Doimnic Mac Giolla Bhríde and Connie Mhary Mhicí Ó Gallchóir will be joined by Éamonn Ó Donnchada and Saileóg Ní Cheannabháin will deliver workshops in songs at An Gailearaí where they will perform later in the evening joined by renowned piper, Gay McKeown on the uileann pipes.

Idyllically situated on the Wild Atlantic Way Gaoth Dobhair is an area already already famous the world over for being acradle of Irish culture, home of musical acts such as Enya, Altan, Clannad, Maria Nic Cumhaill, Aoife Ní Fhearraigh and Noeleen Ní Cholla and younger acts like an Crann Óg.

All the local hunts will have traditional Irish music sessions that attract musical tourists from every corner of the globe, you never know who might join in!
 
As well as music, singing workshops, set-dancing, open mic, craft market, a full moon beach walk and fun for all the family. Coupled with this with spectacular scenery and athmosphere Loinneog Lúnasa presents a musical backdrop to a wonderfully cultural family friendly festival.
