A FANAD couple are recovering this week following an aggravated burglary at their home on Sunday evening last.
Shortly before 8.30pm two men, one carrying a wheel brace, entered the home of the couple at Doaghbeg.
It is understood that they were looking for another member of the family who wasn’t present. They removed some items from the house and assaulted the man before making good their getaway in a car.
The couple were taken to Letterkenny University Hospital following the incident but they’ve since been released.
A spokesman for the Gardai confirmed that they are investigating a case of aggravated burglary in the Fanad area on Sunday evening.
“For operational purposes I can’t say any more than that apart from confirming that Gardai are following a certain line of enquiry. The incident took place at approximately 8.30pm on Sunday night and anyone with information is asked to make contact with investigating Gardai in Milford,” he said.
It is understood that the men are linked with a well-known Dublin based drugs gang.
