Family return home 268 days after lightning strike

A FAMILY whose house was left uninhabitable after being struck by lightning in January moved back into their family home this week.

After 268 days, the Nesbitt family from Newtowncunningham were pleased to share the good news on Tuesday night.

At the start of this year, their home was one of three houses damaged when a bolt of lightning struck as a result of Storm Isha.

Previously speaking to the Donegal News, Debbie Nesbitt recalled the devastating events.

She spoke of hearing an “enormous bang” while she was cooking in her kitchen.

As the whole house shook, she began hearing debris fall from the roof.
