Family left shaken after attempted Christmas break-in

A FAMILY in Kilmacrennan have been left badly shaken following an attempted aggravated burglary in their home on Christmas Eve night.

A male tried to break into the family home in Ballyboe shortly before midnight on Tuesday of last week.

The scene is approximately 1km from the Millbridge shop, which is located on the main road from Kilmacrennan to Letterkenny.

Gardaí have described the incident as “very serious” and are appealing for information. Garda Niall McGuire said they are keen to apprehend the man responsible as soon as possible.

He said the family prevented the male from getting through the front door of their home by sheer force.

“It was a very frightening experience for these people,” he said.
Gardaí have a description of the male, but are not releasing it at this stage.

“We are canvassing CCTV in the area and are looking to progress this because of the sheer nature of it.”

Anyone who was in the area between 11pm on Christmas Eve and 1am the following morning and who may have witnessed anything unusual is asked to contact Milford Garda Station on (074) 91 53060.
