THE family of a 103-year-old Cloughaneely man is pleading with the Health Service Executive (HSE) not to transfer their uncle from his nursing home in Falcarragh.
John Harkin will be 104 on February 6 and is probably the oldest man in the county. He was a day visitor and patient and is now a full-time resident in Falcarragh Community Hospital where he enjoys great rapport and friendship with the staff there.
His niece, Brid Penrose Boyle contacted the Donegal News this week in the hope of persuading the HSE to change their mind on their plan to move Mr Harkin to the Lake House in Portnablagh.
The family feel they have exhausted all avenues to keep their uncle in the home he calls home, where he even has “his own wee corner” where he likes to sit during the day.
