AS PART of this year’s second Gallagher Clan Gathering (September 6-14) Benny Gallagher, one have of the well-known folk duo Gallagher & Lyle will be coming to Donegal.
Benny Gallagher will be performing at Ionad Cois Locha, Dunlewey, on Saturday, September 14 and will give a songwriting masterclass at Ostan Loch Altan, Gortahork, on Sunday.
In an intimate evening of songs and stories about his days as a staff writer with the Beatles publishing company Apple, the singer-songwriter will perform all of the hits he penned for McGuinness Flint and Gallagher & Lyle.
Gallagher’s songs have since been recorded by Art Garfunkel, Bryan Ferry, Colin Blunstone, Donavon Frankenreiter, Don Williams, Elkie Brooks, Fairport Convention, Garth Brooks (Concert in Central Park), Judith Durham, Little Anthony and the Imperials, Mary Hopkin, Phil Everly, Rick Nelson, Ringo Starr, Rita Coolidge, Status Quo, Simon and Garfunkel (The Concert in Central Park), The Fureys, and Lemon Jelly to name but a few.
