THE community in Falcarragh are being encouraged to attend a special screening of ‘Tomorrow’, the award winning documentary about taking steps toward a sustainable future.
The French film, made by Melanie Laurent and Cyril Dion, will be screened tonight, Friday, at The Yard.
The 2015 film starring Anthony Barnosky and Olivier De Schutter explores climate change but instead of showing the worst that can happen it focuses on the people suggesting solutions and their actions.
Robin Botley, who works in personal development, has decided to bring the film to Falcarragh in the hope of inspiring the local community.
“The film was such a huge success in France,” said Robin. “I watched it four months ago and I was very impressed with it.
“I thought it was full of great ideas and it captures an enthusiasm in a lot of people.”
Robin has organised for a panel of speakers to take part in a question and answers session after the film has been shown.
The speakers who have been confirmed so far include Joanne Butler who is involved in developing community gardens across Donegal, Manus Kelly, Donegal Cycle Way and Maire Nic Fhearraigh, Development Officer.
The film is being hosted by Pobail le Cheile at the Yard and looks at creative solutions by people from around the world in the fields of food, energy, transport, economics and education.
“I would hope people would be inspired by the film and that people would talk to eachother about what if?,” said Robin.
There was a cost involved in securing the rights to the film so the organisers are asking for contributions on the door with any profits going to charity.
Doors will open at 7pm and Pobail le Cheile can be contacted at 0749180111 or email coord@pobail.org for more information.
