ROCKHILL Caravan Park on the shores of Mulroy Bay has been sold to one of Ireland’s largest, family owned caravan park operators.
Rathcoole-based Harry Farrell and Sons closed the deal for Rockhill last Friday and are looking forward to investing and improving the 50 acre facility located in Kerrykeel.
The park was sold by Gareth McLarnon of Glen Estates having been marketed within the caravan park industry as a niche product.
The park has 243 caravan stands, 13 log cabins, 20 touring stands and a jetty accessing the water.
Speaking to the Donegal News this week Gareth said developments like this rarely come on the market. The Farrell family have been in the business for over 60 years and this is now their tenth park in Ireland.
“They are planning a substantial investment in the park and local area. We look forward to seeing the future development of the park in their hands,” Gareth said.
New owners Bill Farrell told this paper yesterday that they see a fabulous future for Rockhill Park.
“The area is so beautiful and the scenery spectacular,” he said.
“The park does need serious investment. While we cannot do it overnight, over the coming years we will bring it back up.
“It is full at present and is hugely popular. Since Covid-19 a whole new type of customer has gotten into caravan parks and they have brought friends into it. We look forward to dealing with the residents at Rockhill,” he said.
Harry Farrell and Sons have two parks in North County Dublin, one in Castlegregory on the Dingle Peninsula in County Kerry, four in County Wexford, one on Bunmahon Beach, County Waterford and their recent acquisition in Omeath, County Louth.
Neither party wished to disclose the price of the Kerrykeel deal.
