Extension of hot school meals programme

THE HOT School Meals Programme has been extended with ten additional Donegal schools set to benefit.

Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Charlie McConalogue TD welcomed the announcement this morning which will enable many more Donegal students to receive a hot meal everyday. Outside of Dublin, Donegal has received the biggest allocation of funded schools.

“This announcement today of an extension of the Hot School Meals Programme is important news for many of our families throughout Donegal and will help more students in Donegal receive hot, nutritious meals every day. This is crucially important for their mental and physical wellbeing and I thank my Cabinet Colleague Minister Humphreys for securing this funding,” said Minister McConalogue.

The objective of the programme is to provide regular, nutritious food to children who are unable, due to lack of good quality food, to take full advantage of the education provided to them.

The Donegal schools to benefit from the extension of the programme include: Dunfanaghy National School; Murroe National School (Dunfanaghy); Naomh Bridhid (Carndonagh); Scoil An Aingil Choimheadai (Burtonport); Scoil Bhride ( Lifford); Scoil Mhuire (Letterkenny); Scoil Naomh Colmchille (Carndonagh); Scoil Naomh Padraig Boys (Carndonagh); Scoil Naomh Treasa (Clonmany) and St Patrick’s National School (Lifford).
