Extended orange warning and status red marine warning for Donegal

A STATUS Orange wind warning issued by Met Éireann ahead of Storm Bram will come into effect in Donegal at 10am this morning and remain in place until 9pm.

This follows updated guidance indicating that orange-level winds are now more likely to extend further inland.

The West and Northwest are expected to experience the strongest winds.

A Status Red storm warning will come into force at 12pm today from Loop Head to Erris Head to Malin Head, with winds occasionally reaching violent storm force 11.

This warning will remain in place until 11.30pm.

Storm Bram will bring very windy and stormy conditions throughout the day.

Winds will be very strong to gale force, with damaging gusts expected.

The strongest winds will occur near the coast, and with high tides coinciding with onshore winds, coastal flooding is likely.

Persistent and heavy rain may also lead to flooding, particularly in areas where the ground is already saturated.

Temperatures will be mild, ranging between 12 to 15 degrees.

Tonight, rain in the north will clear, leaving clear spells and scattered showers moving in from the Atlantic.

Some showers may be heavy with a chance of thunder.

Winds will ease but remain moderate to fresh, stronger near coasts.

Lowest temperatures will be 6 to 9 degrees.
