Experience the warm & caring energy of Strabane Academy

THIS year has been a turbulent one for all of us not least our children. At Strabane Academy, we have endeavoured to maintain as much normality for our students as possible to enable them to get the best possible education that we can provide in these challenging times.

Speaking ahead of the upcoming Virtual Open Evening, school principal, David Hampton said, “This Open Evening will be like no other.

“I am confident, however, that if you visit our video in conjunction with our website, Facebook and Twitter pages, then you will get a great idea of the excellent education we provide.

“Within our video, we have tried to capture the spirit of our school life, and convey the sense of pride we feel in being part of this community.

“It may be how we extend learning beyond the classroom, through sports, languages, Duke of Edinburgh, opportunities to travel abroad, practical life skills, such as wood-working and the culinary arts, work-based learning, leadership opportunities within the school council, or the senior prefects… All of these are enriching

“Discover how we have integrated the Arts and STEM within the curriculum. How we educate the whole child, encouraging all our pupils to enrich their lives and learning through the study of art, poetry, drama, music, as well as in mathematics and through the sciences.”

He continued, “A small, caring and supportive school, with a great family spirit committed to equality of opportunity, we are very much a part of this community.

“We warmly invite pupils and parent to come and visit our virtual open evening on our social media pages on Thursday, January 28 to experience for themselves the warmth, energy and caring ethos that exists here.

“If you have any questions or queries about the education we provide at Strabane Academy, I hope you will contact me and I shall be happy to speak with you.”

• Strabane Academy’s ‘Virtual Open Evening’ will be live from 7pm on Thursday, January 28.
