The long awaited report by an expert working group to explore job creation opportunities in the Gaoth Dobhair Business Park is to be launched next Friday.

Specific details are being kept under wraps until the launch the Donegal News can reveal up to €2million extra cash from the government will be pumped into support the key recommendations of the report.

While he would not be drawn on the job creation targets, or the financial aspects of the plan, Junior Gaeltacht Minister Joe McHugh told the Donegal News yesterday “the strength of the report will be in the implementation”.

Minister McHugh, said the job creation targets hinge on the further development and affordability of broadband to the area.
“High speed, affordable, fibre optic broadband is now critical to doing business, in any area of the country- be that rural or urban. I’ve secured a further €1million in capital funding from government for the Údaras’ capital programme this year and a percentage of this will go to Gaoth Dobhair,” he said.
