Fianna Fáil Cllr Donal ‘Mandy’ Kelly has confirmed his intention to contest the forthcoming General election.
He has put his name forward for the party’s General Election selection convention ahead of the closing date for nominations which is Monday, July 15.
The Glenswilly man topped the poll in the Letterkenny LEA in last month’s local elections.
Speaking to the Donegal News, Cllr Kelly said his mandate is to represent the people to the best of his ability.
“The people now are asking me to put my name forward in the nomination process and that is something that I am willing to do on behalf of the people I represent,” he said.
“Letterkenny, in particularly, is without a TD now for 13 or 14 years and is crying out for a TD.
“I am more than happy to put my name on the line to fill that void ,” he said.
