Excitement is building ahead of the Letterkenny St Patrick’s Day parade

It’s just days to go to the Letterkenny St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Tuesday, March 17, and excitement is building.

The parade is one of the biggest in the county and this year Letterkenny Chamber is hoping to make this one another full-on celebration with a festival atmosphere on the day.

The Chamber are delighted to have sporting groups, dance studios, gymnastic clubs, and community groups all taking part this year.

The parade as always is an opportunity to celebrate in style on this important national holiday.

Chamber President Karoline Sweeney said: “Our committee has been working hard in an effort to make this as big a parade as in previous years.

“We have once again been delighted by the support of the local business community because without their contributions the parade would not be possible.

“This year we are delighted to have Phillips Medisize as overall parade sponsor and the parade will be led by the Little Blue Heroes Foundation. All the Honorary Gardaí are excited to be taking part.”

The Chamber say the support from all their sponsors is invaluable, making it a huge community effort. All the generous sponsors have been featured in the Chamber’s social media and they hope that people come along on the day to show their support.

St. Patrick’s Day is an important event in the calendar marking the start of the Spring season.

The Letterkenny Parade is fun, inclusive and colourful, a real family celebration and there’s still time to get your entry organised. Just give the Chamber a call on 0749124866 to enter.

This year there will be music at the stage with Joe Gibson from 1.30pm, and as the crowds gather there will be music on the street from 2pm with Callum Keavney at McGettigan’s Hotel, and Mark McClean at Blakes Bar to entertain the spectators until the parade reaches them.

There will be a chance to get your free commemorative photos at the photo booth at Market Square and the Chamber is encouraging as many families as possible to go along and join in the fun.

As always the parade starts at 3pm, so get your shamrocks on and join in the fun.

Help us make this a St. Patrick’s Day to remember.
