Cavan 2-16 Donegal 1-24
Donegal retained the Anglo Celt Cup after they recorded a comfortable win over Cavan in Clones today.
Declan Bonner’s Donegal started very well and they led by 0-5 to 0-1 after 12 minutes.
Both teams spurned goal chances, but Donegal kept their focus, and Jason McGee, Jamie Brennan, Ciaran Thompson, and Niall O’Donnell were all on the mark as they led by eight points at the break.
Donegal continued to dominate after half-time and Patrick McBrearty kicked three points from play as they moved nine points ahead midway through the half.
Cavan did scored three points on the trot but Donegal killed off the game in the 58th minute when Jamie Brennan notched a super goal.
Conor Madden and Stephen Murray netted for Cavan in the closing exchanges, but Jason McGee, Oisin Gallen, Jamie Brennan, Daire Ó Baoill and Michael Murphy all scored as Donegal ran out winners, and they now go straight into the Super 8s.
