A LOCAL councillor has said the community will rally together in the wake of a collision in Ramelton on Friday in which a young boy remains in hospital after being struck by a car.
Gardaí and emergency services rushed to the scene of the collision, which took place on Chapel Road in the town on Friday evening.
A garda spokesperson confirmed: “The pedestrian, a male juvenile child, was taken from the scene to Letterkenny University Hospital for treatment.”
The road was closed and local diversions were put in place following the collision.
Speaking to the Donegal News, Councillor Tómas Sean Devine said: “This is every parent’s worst nightmare. My heartfelt thoughts go out to everyone involved, to the young boy, his family and the driver of the vehicle.
“The local community will rally together in the coming days, and anything that the council can do, we will.
“Your heart is always in your mouth when it comes to your kids. You just never know what is around the corner,” he said.
