WOULD winning a new home worth €155,000 on the outskirts of Letterkenny change your life?
This week, St Eunan’s GAA Club announced details of a plan to give away a house overlooking their O’Donnell Park grounds as first prize in their Private Members Super Draw.
Ciaran Haran, Draw Co-ordinator, said: “We’re looking to develop a new state of the art flood-lit astroturf pitch behind the river goal at O’Donnell Park at a cost of approximately €200,000. We’re fortunate enough to have been awarded a €80,000 grant by Donegal County Council and it’s now up to us to come up with the matching funds – €120,000 – to enable us to draw down that money,” he said.
This isn’t the first time that the club put forward a new house as first prize in a draw and they’re hoping that they’ll manage to sell between 2,500 and 3,000 tickets ahead of the draw on Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017.
“It’s the fifth time that we’ve held such a draw so we have form. The first one was back in the early 2000s while the most recent one was in 2008.
“This new grade A house is located at No. 33, Rann Mor Meadow which overlooks O’Donnell Park. The prize will appeal to first time buyers and young people who are finding it difficult to obtain loans from their banks. A ticket in the draw would provide an excellent Christmas present,” he said.
“All other prizes are exchangeable apart from the house which will be registered in the winners name. A number of tickets have already been purchased online. We will formally launch the tickets at a function in the clubhouse early next week and then we’ll have teams of sellers going from door to door.
“This new facility will be used almost exclusively by younger members of the club – both boys and girls – to play football and hurling and will come into its own at this time of year allowing them to train on dark evenings. It will also be available to schools in the area who wish to use the new astroturf pitch,” he said.
