Essential work on water mains in Letterkenny

ESSENTIAL water mains rehabilitation works, which may lead to disruptions in water supply, will begin in Letterkenny this evening.

Irish Water, working in partnership with Donegal County Council, is carrying out the work “to safeguard the water supply for homes and businesses” in Wolfe Tone Place.

The works are scheduled to take place from 7pm today (Wednesday, June 8) until 2am on Thursday. During the works, customers in Wolfe Tone Place and surrounding areas may experience temporary, intermittent low pressure and/or water outages. Typically, it takes two to three hours following restoration time for normal supply to be fully restored to all areas.

Speaking about the works, Declan Cawley, Leakage Reduction Programme Regional Lead with Irish Water said: “Irish Water understands that this type of work can be inconvenient and, working in partnership with Donegal County Council, we will make every effort to minimise the disruption that these necessary works may cause.

Declan added: “Customers may experience some temporary discolouration of water following the works and occasionally issues such as internal airlocks may arise. For advice on clearing discolouration and airlocks, visit www.water.ie/water-supply/supply-issues/following-an-outage.”

The Irish Water customer care helpline is open 24/7 on 1800 278 278 and customers can also contact the utility company on Twitter @IWCare with any queries.
